Grapes Harvest

With the month of September, the grape harvest starts. Generation after generation of Sicilians handed down to us the great value of this moment. In this period, villages and countryside come alive with tractors, boxes of grapes, meals and drinks to be enjoyed in the company of family and friends: the harvest becomes a party. In recent years Sicily has had an important oenological turn; in fact, we went from producing highly alcoholic wines to new, fresher, more elegant and fragrant wines, of the highest quality. Our autochthonous vines such as Grillo, Inzolia, Frappato, Nerello and, of course, the best-known grape variety, Nero d’Avola, have become the protagonists in wine fairs and in the international market; many of our wines have had international awards and prizes. All this led to the creation of new cellars, and the renovation of the oldest ones. A tour of the island’s cellars means discovering beautiful, authentic places and enjoying unforgettable hospitality.
